Just because I have tattoos, It does NOT mean:

- That I want to tell you about them.

- That I have to.

- That you can touch them.

- That I want to hear what you think of them.

- That if you ask me about them, I’ll tell you the truth.

- That I’m obligated to read them to you.

- That I give two shits about yours, or the ones you want. (Sometimes I do, but if I seem to be busy grocery shopping… that’s just bad timing for anyone)

- That I have to stop in the middle of the grocery store so you can twist my arm around.

- That I’m not going to get irritated when you hold up the line  when I’m at work so you can make snarky comments about them.

- That I haven’t thought about them, and that they’ll be there when I get older. I’ve heard it.

- That I want to discuss tattoos, or where I got mine.

- That I’m irresponsible riff-raff.

- That I can’t do a job just as good if not better as anyone else.

- That I can’t get into Architecture school… Thanks anyways grandma.

- That I will sit with a big grin on my face while you tell me that I’m a sinner and ask me what I’ll tell my children. What I do with my body and my children who don’t even exist yet are none of your god-damn business.

What it DOES mean:

- I’m just like you, I enjoy my privacy.

- I have thought about my tattoos. They mean a lot to me, and I do appreciate people who enjoy tattoos as well. Just not when they’re twisting me up into a pretzel in the middle of the Winco produce isle.

- If asked nicely, I probably will explain them.

- If you hire me, I won’t steal anything.

- I won’t hurt you.

- I’m a really nice person, pretty funny and fun to be around. I have a family who I love, and who loves and accepts me. I don’t do drugs, I don’t own a Harley and I enjoy puppies, summertime, bikerides, cooking and gardening. Just because I have tattoos doesn’t make any of those things less important.
